History of our house
On 17. January 1887 the miner Wilhelm Doerr got the permission for a waggoner restaurant and so the foundationstone of the „Landhotel Doerr “ was taken.
After the opening the railwayline between Marburg and Kreuztal he offered meals and drinks for the passengers.
He built a horse stable next to his house in the year 1894 and on it a hall. This hall was the basis for the “Gasthaus zum Bahnhof” with 6 guest rooms, built around of the turn of the century.
Since 1906 Wilhelm Doerr II took led the hotel and was pleased about the economic revival of the German empire. Even though it was a hard time, because of the First World War, he managed successfully the “Gasthaus zum Bahnhof”
After his death in 1937 Wilhelm Doerr III took over the house, which profited more an more from their position nearby the train station, especially from the tourists from the big cities like Essen, Bochum,...
After the ending of the Second World War and the economic revival things were looking up, although the railroad lost their importance, because passengers arrived by car or by bus, but the quantity of overnight stays increased and in 1961 the change of name in „Landhotel Doerr“ were requested.
Also Wilhelm Doerr IV learned the hotel business and advanced after his entry into the family enterprise the extension. In 1965 an extensive modification took place in the house. Further tracts followed 1974 and 1977. In 1981 followed a large building including swimming pool and new guest rooms.
Now the basis was given for the current Wellnesshotel. Since 1984 the house is called „Landhotel Doerr“. The first part of the country house with mirror hall and further rooms was built in 1994.
With the new building of the Spa area on over 1,000 square meter, established in 2001, Wilhelm Doerr IV is going new ways. Since this time the Landhotel Doerr belongs to the Wellness hotels Germany.
Due to the success 14 new rooms were built in 2007. 2008 the new restaurant ( in which we can welcome you today) were added with 120 seats and is at present the last one of large construction measures.
